Women and Newport architecture

Learn the history behind the houses built by women in Newport’s Kay/Catherine neighborhood during a walking tour Saturday. The neighborhood is home to more than 50 buildings built by women during the 19th century, when some women correlated their fanciful designs to the era’s resort culture in Newport. During the tour, participants will visit some of the significant women-built buildings, including the Wormley House, the Porter House, the Mason Sisters house and more. When: Saturday, Oct. 27, 11 a.m. Where: Kay/Catherine neighborhood, Newport Additional Information: Tickets: $15 per person, $10 Newport Historical Society Members.
