In the latest issue of Travel + Leisure Magazine, Providence ranks as Best "Foodie" City in "America's Favorite Cities" poll, coming in first place for Food/Drink/Restaurants.  This poll  ranks 35 cities across the United States.  More specifically, the city ranked top 10 in all food-related categories, including fine dining, ethnic foods, cafes and microbrews. Students at The College of Culinary Arts at Johnson and Wales University must be very proud of this recognition. As they should be! To state the obvious, the city of Providence can attribute part of its reputation of culinary achievements to programs at Johnson and Wales. Recognitions such as this show young twentysomethings that there IS opportunity in Providence post graduation. Hopefully to open up shop as the city ranked ahead of New York, New Orleans, Chicago, and Portland, Ore., which rounded out the top five. “Travel + Leisure confirmed what we already know: Providence has the best restaurants and the best food in America,” said Providence Mayor Angel Taveras in a recent Projo article. “Our restaurants, cafes, bars and food trucks are vital parts of our creative economy and make Providence a more attractive city for students, professionals and innovative industries.” Below shows the ranking for "THE BEST..." in the polls: Base for day trips (#1) Hamburgers (#1) Pizza (#2) Ice cream (#2) Cafes (#3) For more details of Providence's ranking, click here.
