The story behind the show

Saturday at the Newport Art Museum, hear from Suzanne Paquette, creative lead for consumer products at Cirque du Soleil. During a talk entitled “From Fine Art, High Drama: The Making of Cirque du Soleil,” Paquette will discuss the art of creating the internationally recognized, which features a mix of circus arts and street entertainment. Paquette will also share the show’s origins and the company’s culture of creation, said to be “nurtured not only in the development of Cirque shows, but in all endeavors.” This lecture will be followed by a reception and is part of the museum’s Winter Speaker Series. When: Saturday, Jan. 19, 2 p.m. Where: Newport Art Museum, 76 Bellevue Ave., Newport Additional Information: Admission: $10 museum members, $15 nonmembers, $6 students. The museum will offer a reservation-based kid’s club at the cost of $9 per child from 2 to 3:30 p.m. for those wishing to bring their children.
