Vibrant and bold hues are the trend this spring season, thanks to color trendsetters Pantone. They've selected Radiant Orchid as the "Color of the Year" for 2014. In addition to color trends, this season's overall home decor trend is eclectic design and personalized accents. Here are a couple key points of what's currently in and how you can make it your own:

1. Self expression

[caption id="attachment_3010" align="aligncenter" width="483"] via Pinterest[/caption] Bought an antique lamp you're not sure others will approve of? Well, now is the time to be bold and  let  your inner designer out. New and quirky styling trends allow for much more self expression. Home decorating has taken a shift in priorities, from placing an emphasis in color coordination to how furniture and colors impact moods.

2. Antique wood furniture

Sorry, Ikea. But this post is not for you.

Reusing antique wood furniture is most certainly a trend right now. And it may just become a style that's here to stay. Long gone are the days where customers have to put up with overpriced wonky "wood" furniture they need to assemble themselves. Simply purchase a quality piece from your favorite antique store and give it a nice facelift! Don't be afraid to add pops of color. If Radiant Orchid is a stretch for you, then experiment with a few pastels (which are also in style right now). Think about it: If the furniture has lasted this long, it means that it was built with a good foundation and solid materials. READ: Trending: 3 Inventive Ways to Reuse Old Wood Furniture

3. The rebirth of Mad Men decor

[caption id="attachment_3012" align="aligncenter" width="500"]housebeautiful via House Beautiful[/caption] Mid-century modern furniture, patterns and furnishings are in style now. We're talking retro decor that appeal to those loving posh and grandeur. All thanks to the hit TV show Mad Men. While we can't admire many of the cultural trends of this particular era, we can certainly pull inspiration from the bold and vibrant elements of this era's fantastic home decor trends.
