A Weekend in Providence by the NY Times

By mdblog - July 19, 2012

The NY Times recently came out with an article on what it´s like to spend 36 hours in Providence, RI. From gallery gazing at the RISD museum, drinking cocktails at The Dorrance to dining out on the West End, this article is pretty spot on.

Needless to say, the small city definitely has a lot to offer in terms of cultural events, academia and cuisine. What´s surprising is that most of these hidden gems take a while to stumble upon, like The Salon in Downcity and Julians on the West End. But somehow, this reporter is able to list some of the most popular (but very local) hot spots in Providence.

Here´s a short list of things to do and places to see according to this article:

  • The RISD Museum
  • Big Nazo Lab
  • The Dorrance
  • The Avery
  • E&O Tap
  • Classic Cafe
  • White Electric Coffee
  • Savoring Rhode Island
  • Scialo Brothers Bakery
  • AS220
  • Cook & Brown
  • Cable Car Cinema
